Volunteers are essential to our success as an organisation. While some of our country chapters have paid employees, many function entirely through the willingness and drive of volunteers, who spearhead tasks such as designing social media campaigns, running information stands, facilitating the match process, and planning events or projects. Depending on what you enjoy doing and what you’re good at, we’ll find a volunteering role that you can thrive in.

What can I do as a volunteer?

Run information stands to spread awareness of our mission!

Represent Refugees Welcome at festivals, concerts, and cultural events by spreading information about the housing challenges facing refugees and the work our organisation does to mitigate them. Discrimination in the housing market needs to be more widely discussed, and with your help, we can reach people on a personal basis to spread awareness about the exclusionary practices in our home countries

Work an internship!

Intern with us to assist with the general operations and expansion projects of our organisation. Our interns also help with research-based tasks, grant writing, and logistical planning, as well as the day-to-day operations of an individual country chapter. We offer internships in most of our offices around Europe. Just write us an email to find out where it is currently possible.

Create your own student group!

Our student groups are delegations of the country chapters of Refugees Welcome and are established in collaboration with local universities. These groups meet to discuss and organise events relating to our work and causes and to work towards a common goal. If you’re interested in launching a student group at your university, we have a variety of tools and materials you can use to get started.

Like and share our posts on social media!

It may not sound like much, but supporting us on social media has a huge impact on our reach! The more you spread our work and mission on various social media channels, the more living spaces we are able to provide! We encourage you to amplify our contact through your own social media channels so we can reach the widest possible audience of potential hosts.

Put your writing talents to use for us!

We are always in need of volunteers willing to support us in writing grant applications. As a nonprofit organisation, these grants enable us to support our refugees and hosts through rent subsidies and match coordination. Writing these applications can be a fun and creative endeavour that lets you get to know our work up close.

Support us in matching hosts with refugees!

Would you like to support us in matching registered hosts and refugees? We’d love to have you on board, and don’t worry – we will offer training and guidance to help you with your first few matches.

Support our advocacy efforts!

We are always looking for support through advocacy. Whether it’s accompanying us at conferences, launching local fundraisers, or making donations, any method of spreading awareness for our mission is much appreciated.
